About Brighton

Brighton Development Corporation was created by Linda Donaldson Peggy Lucas, and Richard Brustad in 1981. Combining their varied experience in finance, marketing, social work and public administration, Brighton set out to pursue development in the City at a time when suburban development was more lucrative and lower in risk.

This innate desire to make urban areas a better place to live for people at all income levels has put Brighton in the center of some extremely challenging development efforts. Through its lengthy track record, Brighton has come to be known for its wisdom, tenacity and dependability. Brighton has been recognized for its work locally, statewide and nationally.

Brighton has been privileged to work with very talented architects to consistently design and construct high quality housing for people of all income ranges. The organization's core values include developing neighborhoods and contributing to existing neighborhoods in a sensitive manner that will shape them for the next 100 years.

The organization's body of work includes over 3200 units, the vast majority of which are located in Minneapolis and St. Paul. 610 of these are ownership and 2673 are rental.
