2004 National Preservation Honor Award -
Mill City Museum

National Trust for Historic Preservation presented one of its 16 annual awards for 2004 to the Mill City Museum complex. This national award recognizes the unique reuse of historic ruins into a dramatic new museum and office complex. The original 'A' Mill Building, which was destroyed by a dramatic fire in the 1990s was creatively redeveloped into an interpretive history center and office building. Located on the mighty Mississippi River at St. Anthony Falls, the Mill City Museum complex establishes the Mills District as the center of economic and historic development in the City of Minneapolis.

This award was presented to the Minnesota Historical Society, City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development Department, Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, and Brighton Development Corporation.
