Lourdes Square is built on the former site of a Coca-Cola bottling plant, which sat vacant for many years. Lourdes Square was a pioneer for upper bracket for-sale townhomes on the east side of the downtown area. The idea was to be a catalyst for the redevelopment of other sites in the East Hennepin Commercial District.
